Amazon Sales Trend Analysis: November Updates

Published on 2015-11-09

Sales data from first month of the 4th Quarter are in. Overall we are seeing an uptick in sales as anticipated Year over Year, and likely to continue growing in November and December this year.

A quick note though, that estimating sales for November is going to be more difficult than normal due to the large spikes of sales as holiday shopping begins. To prepare, we’ve applied adjustment factors (based on historical 4Q data) in a number of the categories. In addition, Jungle Scout’s data scientist is going to keep a close eye on sales and is prepared to make multiple adjustments mid month to ensure our best possible sales estimates.

With those caveats out of the way, here are a few quick takeaways:

  • Grocery sellers showed a slight sales increase last month.
  • As expected, Patio, Lawn and Garden showed a slight decrease in sales, especially for items with sales ranks better than 2,000.
  • Pet Supplies showed a slight sales increase for products with sales ranks lower than 20,000.
  • Toy and Game sellers had significant sales increase.

I send out an updated Sales-Rank table every month, and our Jungle Scout algorithms are updated monthly with the most recent Amazon Sales Data. If you want to receive the full sales table for this month and going forward, sign up to receive them for free here: https://www.junglescout.com/ranktable/

Whether you use the Sales-Rank Table, or the free Jungle Scout Sales Estimator, we want to make your Amazon product research experience as efficient and insightful as possible. To help to that end, I will be hosting an Ask-Me-Anything type webinar this Wednesday November 11th at 9p EST. I want to answer any questions you may have regarding the early stages of Amazon product research, whether coming up with ideas, evaluating sales data, choosing a product, etc. If you are interested in joining, go here to register for free to get details on joining this Wed 11/11: http://junglescout.com/collaborative-launch
